We are very pleased to once again be welcoming people back to St Beuno's

September 17, 2021

Tucked away in rural North Wales and overlooking spectacular views of the Vale of Clwyd and Snowdonia, St Beuno's offers visitors the opportunity to find God and spiritual renewal amid the chaos and uncertainty of today’s world.

Built in 1847 by the Society of Jesus, it was originally a theology college for Jesuits in training. The Victorian poet, Gerard Manley Hopkins, studied there. Since 1980, it has been a retreat and spirituality centre welcoming people from all walks of life and all faith traditions.

In 2016, actors Andrew Garfield and Adam Driver stayed at St Beuno's for a silent retreat while preparing for their roles in Martin Scorsese’s historical epic, Silence, a film about two Jesuit priests and their dangerous mission to locate their missing mentor in Japan. Andrew Garfield recounted some of the experiences he had on retreat in an interview with Stephen Colbert which you can watch here.

St Beuno’s was closed during lockdown but is now open again. We are offering long and short retreats, including the Spiritual Exercises of St Ignatius of Loyola.

The team at St Beuno's look forward to hearing from you!
