Volunteers needed for new emergency shelter for the homeless

December 12, 2022

With freezing temperatures forecast for the next few weeks - which can be deadly for anyone sleeping outdoors - volunteers are setting up an emergency night shelter at Westminster Cathedral Hall, starting on Tuesday 13 December.

The shelter is being run by Central London Catholic Churches, of which Jesuits in Britain are a part, and will be able to accommodate up to 15 overnight guests on mattresses in the hall - with a light evening meal and breakfast. There will be a screened-off area for women guests and Westminster Council will be providing overnight security.

If you would like to volunteer at the emergency shelter, please contact Fr Dominic Robinson on: 07840686568

Farm Street Church in Mayfair, which is home to the Jesuits in Britain, offers hot meals for the homeless on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Last Saturday we served lunch, provided by the Connaught Hotel, to 43 guests. The services of a barber were also available.
